What is a Trace Map in Assam and How to Get One?
Understanding the Trace Map
A Trace Map is an officially certified extract of the cadastral map for a specific land plot. Unlike the standard unverified map you see on the BhuNaksha portal, a Trace Map is legally binding, stamped by the Revenue Official.
Why Do You Need It?
Whenever you sell a portion of your land, the sub-registrar demands a Trace Map. It ensures the buyer knows the exact geographical boundaries, preventing encroachment disputes.
How to Apply
While the broader BhuNaksha initiative digitized maps, getting a certified trace map generally involves these steps:
- Visit standard Sewa Setu / RTPS Assam portals and look for 'Issuance of Trace Map'.
- Submit up-to-date Khajana (land revenue) receipts.
- Provide exact Dag and Patta numbers.
- Pay the nominal government fee online.
The Lot Mandal will verify the boundaries. If the map matches the physical possession, the Circle Officer digitally signs the Trace Map, which you can then download and use for your deed registration.
